In this update we'll discuss next steps on Indiegogo orders, review our updated shipping schedule, and share our latest production process.

Shipping Update: Majority of Shipping Now Beginning in February

Slight delays with our batteries and decks (detailed below) briefly held back production in December, forcing us to modify our delivery timeframes. These issues are now ironed out and production is moving along quickly.

First Shipment Indiegogo and Website orders made in November or earlier Shipping in late February
Second Shipment Indiegogo and Website orders made in December or later Shipping in Mid-March

In mid January we plan to air ship a small test shipment of boards to our Southern California fulfillment partner. Though air shipment is expensive, we feel its important to get a head start on working out any kinks that the fulfillment process may hold to ensure that when our high volume sea shipments arrive we can shipping as quickly as possible. If we're able to work through these kinks in mid January, then the first few units will begin shipping in late January. Outside of the test shipment our schedule is as follows:

First Shipment
Our first large volume shipment is now scheduled to arrive in California between February 15-20. With the practice and learnings of the test shipment behind us, we'll be able to begin sending out these boards within 4 days of receiving them. Domestic Indiegogo and Website orders made before the end of November will begin shipping at this time. These customers will receive a tracking number in their email.

Second Shipment
We have aggressively pushed our manufacturers to complete our second shipment before the Chinese New Year holidays begin (2/15). The second shipment is now scheduled to arrive in California in mid March and customers who ordered in December or later will receive a tracking number at that time.

*International Shipments
International orders will follow a different process and schedule than the one listed above as their units will be going directly from our manufacturer to their country.

Overall we're disappointed in the delay but are excited that deliveries are just around the corner and in time for Summer.

Deck Finalized and Now in Production

Our deck has undergone slight, consistent improvements since launching our Indiegogo project. As discussed in previous blog posts, we shifted suppliers enabling us to add a slight concave to the deck. Our new supplier nailed the correct concave on the first round of sampling, but dialing in the laser engraved logo and wheel well locations took more rounds of sampling than initially expected. These fine details are now locked in and deck production is underway.

electric longboard deck evolution

1) Original deck w/o concave. Our logo and font have evolved since then. 2) V2 deck with simplified logo. Laser engraving settings for logo were incorrect. 3) Laser engraving setting correct but downsized too far. 4) Crisp lines, ideal sizing, and correct laser engraving setting. Note: The wood coloring in all four photos are identical and has not been changed.

More Manufacturing

At the end of December our Battery Supplier notified us of a two week delay related to the holidays. We're happy to say we have now received all batteries.

Verifying Your Order (Indiegogo Customers Only)

We will soon begin reaching out to Indiegogo orders via email to verify order contents and their addresses. At first we'll only be sending a few dozen emails to work out any issues but in the coming weeks each Indiegogo backer will be receiving one.

If you ordered through our website then you will not be receiving this email.

Looking Back, Looking Forward

2017 was a great year for our team we are looking forward to 2018 being even better! Thanks to your support, in 2017 we were able to travel all over the world from SD -> LA -> SF -> NY -> China and back to hear your feedback and implement it into the Riptide. We can't wait til you can start riding. You all made 2017 a year to remember for us.

As always, thanks again for all the words of support!

Cheers,

Eric and the Team
