Since our last update we've made some great strides in manufacturing and testing. Day by day we're getting closer and closer to getting you your boards!
We are excited that we have now received MSDS and UN38.3 Certifications for the Riptide's battery. These are required in order to ship lithium batteries and are the result of a long process that started even before we launched on Indiegogo (!) The battery has been certified at 97Wh as expected, meaning it fits in with the general TSA regulations to bring as a carry on.
We have received the first round of samples of our injection molded battery boxes and we were stoked to see that the fitment for all internals (battery, speed controller, heat sink, charge port, on/off switch, battery meter) were all just right! We are in the process of riding these battery boxes hard to ensure they can take a beating. In our next update we'll be able to give you the results of these tests.
We have received pictures of our branded wheels. We went for an understated design and we're excited with how it came out. These will be on our next round of samples.
We've made some slight adjustments to the battery box hole placements and to the grip tape design to better fit.
We had 25 people show up in costume for our first annual Riptide Halloween Group Ride around San Diego!
"The R1 Elite’s shorter wheelbase and playful kicktail make quick turning a breeze. Even with the board’s added weight, it’s astonishingly easy to whip around and make sharp, controlled turns... The Elite is arguably one of the best commuter boards we’ve ever ridden"
